The Road Trip
Some of this moves around depending on weather, ferry schedules and local conditions.
The Vans
Vintage 80s VW campers. We collect them in Svolvær and drive them across the islands for seven days, moving as a convoy.
Three people to a van. Bedding is in there, and full campervan insurance. They are part of the adventure rather than luxury accommodation.
Three person vans mean two of you share a bed. We sort the groups before we travel and you'll know your arrangement before you book.
The Hikes
Reinebringen above Reine. Håen on Værøy, reached by ferry. Bunes Beach and Helvetestinden, reached by ferry and then on foot. Ryten above Kvalvika. Offersøykammen and the mountains around Haukland.
Moderate to challenging. Steep climbs, uneven ground and exposed viewpoints. The hardest planned day is roughly 5 to 8 hours.
You don't need to be an experienced mountaineer. You do need to be comfortable hiking uphill for several hours.
The Beaches
Kvalvika, reached on foot over Ryten. Bunes, by ferry and then a hike. Haukland and Vik, straight off the road.
Ramberg is our base for two nights, at Lofoten Beach Camp directly on the sand.
The surf lesson, the beach sauna and the Arctic plunge all happen here. All three are optional extras.
The Midnight Sun
In June the sun stays above the horizon through the night. There is no sunset.
That is why the itinerary has late night hikes and beach evenings in it, and a midnight sun social night at Lofoten Beach Camp with a BBQ, drinks and games.
Svolvær, First Night
We start the adventure together in apartments in Svolvær before collecting the campers.
Moskenes, 4 Nights
Campervan pitches at Moskenes Camping, giving us a base for Reine, Værøy, Bunes Beach, Reinebringen and kayaking.
Ramberg, 2 Nights
Campervans at Lofoten Beach Camp, directly by the beach. This is our base for surfing, the sauna, Ryten and Kvalvika, and our midnight sun social night.
Svolvær, Final Night
Back into apartments for our final night together before everyone heads home.

These are guide prices and subject to change. You do not need to book any of them at launch, we can add them on later down the line.
- Kayaking in Reine: Approximately £75 per person for a 2 hour guided paddle through the fjords.
- Arctic surfing: Approximately £94 per person for a 3 hour beginner lesson at Lofoten Beach Camp.
- Beach sauna: Approximately £15 per person for an hour, followed by an Arctic plunge if you fancy it.
- RIB sea eagle safari: Approximately £79 per person, out from Svolvær towards Trollfjord.
Once all add on prices are confirmed, we'll reach out with a link to add these on if you need them.
The trip starts and finishes in Svolvær. The closest airport is Svolvær Airport (SVJ).
International flights aren't included, which leaves everyone free to travel from wherever they are and to extend their trip in Norway before or after Lofoten.
We'll send the group recommended flight routes along with arrival and departure information.

What is The Travel Squad?
We're a travel community that builds group trips for people who want to meet new people. Strangers book on their own, travel together, and go home with a group chat full of people they'll travel with again. That's the whole idea. Five years, thousands of travellers, and most of them came on their own the first time.
How does the ticket drop work?
Everyone joins the group chat before launch. When the countdown hits zero the booking link drops in there, first come first served. These sell out on launch day, so be ready.
Once you've booked you'll get a confirmation email with an invite to the confirmed group chat. That's where you meet everyone, swap socials and sort rooms and transfers in the months before you go. You'll also get a link in there to add on extras whenever you're ready.
Are flights included?
No. Everyone arranges their own flights to and from Svolvær, which leaves you free to travel from wherever you are and to extend your trip in Norway before or after Lofoten. We'll send the group recommended routes along with arrival and departure information.
What's the average age?
Our community is 18 to 35, with most people between 24 and 35. Minimum age is 18. We've had plenty of people outside that bracket join and love it.
I'm coming on my own, is that weird?
No, it's not weird at all, this is exactly the point of these trips. Once you're confirmed we'll send you a link to the group chat, so keep an eye out for it, you're not added automatically. From there you'll connect, swap socials and get to know people before heading out. Everyone here is a stranger at some stage of their TTS journey.
Can I book with a friend?
Tickets are limited to 1 person per booking. TTS was built to help solo travellers meet people, so the ticket system isn't designed for groups. Make sure your friend is ready to book at the same time.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. You'll need comprehensive cover for cancellation, personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation and loss of property. Make sure it covers hiking, and the surfing and kayaking too if you add those on, as not all insurers do. We'll send you a recommended provider in your confirmation email.
How do I make changes to my booking?
Email support@thetravelsquad.com and the team will sort it out.
Who will I share a campervan with?
We sort the campervan groups before we travel and you'll know your arrangement before you book. The vans sleep up to three, and a three person camper may mean two of you share a bed. If that doesn't work for you, tell us early and we'll do what we can.
What are the campervans like?

Do I need hiking experience?
You don't need to be an experienced hiker, but this is an active trip rather than a relaxing holiday. You should arrive with a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable hiking uphill for several hours.
The hikes are moderate to challenging. Several routes involve steep climbs, uneven ground and exposed mountain viewpoints. The hardest planned day is roughly 5 to 8 hours.
What's the weather like?
Lofoten is above the Arctic Circle, so the weather changes quickly. Expect cool summer temperatures, generally around 8 to 15°C, though it can be warmer or colder. You can get sunshine, wind, cloud and rain in the same day. We'll send everyone a proper kit list before you travel.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Lofoten's weather is unpredictable, so the itinerary is flexible. Hikes, ferries and activities may be moved, changed or cancelled if conditions aren't safe.
I've never surfed before, can I still do it?
Yes. The surf lesson is a beginner session, so no experience is needed.
Do I need kayaking experience?
No. The kayak is a guided experience suitable for beginners, with a guide with you throughout.
Do I have to do every activity?
No. The kayaking, surfing, sauna and sea eagle safari are all optional extras, and nobody has to join every hike either. Plenty of people sit one out and meet the group afterwards.
What if I need to cancel?
Your £199 deposit goes directly to the suppliers to hold your spot and we can't get that back, so that part isn't refundable. Anything you've paid beyond that is refundable up until certain dates closer to the trip, after which it's gone to suppliers on the ground and out of our hands.
